We have great coffee in the Canberra Office kitchen — but sometimes you need a change of scene. One of the perks of being on London Circuit is the density of good cafés within a five-minute walk. Here are the spots our members keep coming back to.
The Cupping Room
A Canberra institution at this point. Their Civic location on University Avenue is a short walk from our building, and the coffee is consistently excellent. If you care about single origins and pour-overs, this is your spot. The food menu holds up too — the breakfast burrito has a loyal following for good reason.
Best for: A proper coffee experience when you have 20 minutes to sit down.
Two Before Ten
Just off Lonsdale Street in Braddon, Two Before Ten is walkable from London Circuit if you don’t mind a 10-minute stroll. Their beans are roasted in-house and the café has a clean, minimal aesthetic that appeals to the design-minded among us. The courtyard is a good spot in warmer months.
Best for: A longer lunch break when you want to stretch your legs.
Highroad
On the corner of London Circuit and Northbourne Avenue — practically on our doorstep. Highroad is reliable for a quick takeaway flat white and a pastry when you’re between meetings. Nothing fancy, but the coffee is good and the service is fast.
Best for: The 9am dash when you need caffeine before the first call.
Local Press Café
Tucked in near the Canberra Centre, Local Press does solid café food and has enough space that you can grab a table for an informal client meeting. The vibe is casual-professional, which works well for the kind of conversations where you don’t want a boardroom but you need something better than a park bench.
Best for: Casual client catch-ups over lunch.
Mocan & Green Grout
In NewActon, about a 10-minute walk along the lake side of London Circuit. Mocan is where you go when you want to impress someone with Canberra’s food scene. The menu changes seasonally, the space is beautiful, and the coffee is excellent. It’s a longer detour, but worth it for a Friday lunch or a team outing.
Best for: Friday team lunch or impressing an out-of-town client.
ONA Coffee
ONA’s Marylebone House location on London Circuit is practically a neighbour. Founded in Canberra, ONA has won enough barista championships to fill a trophy cabinet, and their cafés reflect that obsession with quality. If you’re particular about your coffee — and if you’re reading this, you probably are — ONA is the benchmark.
Best for: When only the best coffee in the city will do.
The kitchen upstairs
Of course, the most convenient café is the one on Level 9. Canberra Office’s kitchen has a proper espresso machine, good beans, and a view that none of the above can match. It’s where most days start and most ideas begin — over a coffee with someone who’s building something interesting.
No queue. No charge. And you don’t even need to put shoes on.
